The 2008 Essex Book Award has been awarded to Tim Lott for his thought-provoking novel Fearless. Tim, who is a well-known journalist and TV and radio critic, as well as an author, visited Essex School Library Service in May to collect his award and meet some of the pupils who voted his book a winner.

Fearless, a thought-provoking novel that deals with some difficult issues has taken its author almost eight years to complete. He told his audience that it was ‘one of the most challenging things I have ever done’. Six novels were short listed for this year’s award and secondary pupils from across Essex voted ‘Fearless’ the outright winner.
