Mama God, Papa God - A Caribbean Tale

This is a humorous retelling of a Caribbean creation tale, itself based on the familiar Book of Genesis creation story. The main difference is that the Caribbean tale is duo theistic, featuring a male and a female God sharing equal power... well almost. After creating light, the world, flowers, wind, rain, birds and animals, etc. they finally make man and woman in their own image. Not fully satisfied with their handiwork however, they decide to differentiate the people by giving them a range of colours, sizes, shapes, and languages and disperse them to all the corners of the earth. The celebration of ethnic and cultural diversity which is at the heart of the book, is underscored by the colourful stylised illustrations, with their deliberate borrowings from a range of tribal art, design, costumes and headgear.
